“Kristo: Christ & Culture” is a group exhibition that invites artists to explore the multifaceted impact of Christ on culture. The “Kristo” exhibitions came from the idea of artist, Salvador Ching, who initiated the first exhibition in Bulacan in 2001. Similar iterations have since been mounted in different cities all over the Philippines, including Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Manila, Cebu, etc.
“Kristo” Christ & Culture” aims to examine the diverse ways in which Christ has influenced and continues to influence cultural landscapes. Artists will be addressing prompts that explore historical and contemporary representations of Christ, the influence on specific cultural practices (particularly Filipino traditions), interpretations of hope, compassion, and social justice, and personal perspectives on the life and teachings of Christ.
